Nighttime street work dilemma

I went out and photographed some concrete cutting that was going on at the street in front of my apartment. But I’m having trouble picking from a few shots.

And one shot may be better than another, but I hopefully want to get it printed in the Sentinel so printability on newsprint will also be something to think of in picking the best photo.

Let me know what is the best.

As photos I think the middle two are awesome. For what you need, I like the top one. You can tell what he’s doing, which is a plus. The middle two are harder to tell because it’s so dark. I have no idea about printability though.

  3. Did you use some kind of sharpening on the first? Something about it looks a little strange. That being said, I like the last one, because you have such a clear silhouette against the background. When you don’t have any light on their faces, you’ve got to go with the next best graphic element, the shapes, with the strange looking helmets. Interesting and challenging situation to shoot in, for sure.

    • There is some sharpening, but I think the glare from the light doesn’t interact well with my crappy Tamron lens.
